Take the Alpha English Test
to estimate your English level
in line with international English level assessment schemes
IELTS, CEFR, TOEFL and others
The Alpha English Test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions over four sections, and you will have 60 minutes to answer them. Each section contains grammatical and lexical questions in an ascending scale of difficulty. The Test consists of questions measuring the recognition of correct responses to reading prompts, grammatical forms and lexical choices in context. The Test will indicate if you’re able to understand a native speaker and have an adequate level of lexis, and also whether you can handle written sentence patterns and structures with a degree of automaticity.
Take the Test and receive the score with the benchmarking table allowing you to estimate your English level in line with several international English level assessment schemes – IELTS, CEFR, TOEFL, ALTE, Trinity and Cambridge English Qualifications.
The questions in each of the four test sections were carefully selected and adapted from the ten levels of the Nelson English Language Tests battery that ranges from Beginner level up to Certificate of Proficiency level. The Test assesses your knowledge of grammatical structures, functional language, vocabulary and collocations. It provides a robust mean of establishing the most probable level of language performance needed for purposes of initial language assessment, and will indicate accurately your general English level (not individual skills in reading, writing, listening or speaking). All questions have been extensively pre-tested by our British teachers with students from a variety of first-language backgrounds.
